Music charity, venue and award-winning music education hub, Bristol Beacon, has launched a new talent development programme for 18- to 25-year-olds called Future Proof.

The development scheme will commence from March; the young people involved will gain support from industry professionals, as well as a personal development plan, opportunities to be given feedback and ask questions.

There will be one-to-one mentoring sessions for the participants, in addition to group sessions and seed funding or a grant of up to £1000 that can be spent on studio access, equipment and other creative costs.

The venue, formerly known as Colston Hall, is currently undergoing a major transformation; its new programme will run for 18 months until the site’s reopening. Those involved will also be able to make suggestions regarding what the renovated venue uses its spaces for.

Bristol Beacon’s creative producer, Owen Parry said; ‘This special project has come at an exciting time where we can work alongside early-stage creatives in the lead-up to our venue’s exciting reopening. The idea is that through these relationships, we can learn and grow together by supporting each other’s development.’

‘We look forward to connecting and collaborating with local music creators and welcome applications from all backgrounds. The project we have designed will help open up access to exploring careers in music for people aged 18-25, particularly those who are traditionally underrepresented; and to facilitate creative innovation with new and diverse ideas.’

The deadline for applications is 17 February.
