Platinum Jubilee Song

This song has been written by Sue Bleazard for children to sing as part of the celebrations for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. The accompanying video features images of the winning entries of the Guardian’s art competition to celebrate the Queen’s 85th birthday. The track is available for free on YouTube, alongside a lyric sheet.

The Windsor Platinum Jubilee Schools’ song

Composed by Emily Barden in collaboration with a group of Windsor-based students at Windsor Castle, this Platinum Jubilee Song was designed to be performed by students in a project spearheaded by director of music and MT contributor James Manwaring. The full recording, backing track, lyrics and score are available to download for free online.

The School Musicals Company’s jubilee assembly songs

Written by Niki Davies, the two new song packs can be downloaded for teachers to sing with their students. Street Party and Trooping The Colour can be accessed for free using the discount code JUBILEE100 from The School Musicals Company’s website.

The Queen’s Green Canopy

This is a unique initiative created to encourage individuals, schools and groups to plant trees during the official planting season, marking Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee. There is a Free Trees for Schools and Communities Scheme thanks to the Woodland Trust, in addition to a promise from the Queen’s Green Canopy to get in touch with as many state schools as possible to arrange free trees through its partner organisations. Closely linked to the project, a new composition entitled Green Canopy by Major Simon Haw is available for students and teachers to download and listen to from householddivision.org.uk.

Big Jubilee Lunch for schools

Run by Eden Project Communities, schools are invited to download a free resource pack to help organise a Big Jubilee Lunch. Teaching resources for Key Stages 1–4 help teach pupils about the significance of Platinum Jubilee and get them engaged ahead of the June celebrations. The resources could be incorporated into musical events or series of lessons.
