Cheltenham Music Festival’s summer season 2022 includes school workshops in June, a free relaxed concert for SEND schools, and an interactive concert for schools in early July.

Run by alumni of Cheltenham’s ‘Musicate’ outreach and education programme, the June in-school workshops are designed for a group of 30 children, and cost £1 per pupil.

Harpist and music educator Emily Hopper will run Musistories for Year 1 and 2 pupils, offering a ‘truly interactive approach’ to exploring the foundations of music through a combination of story-telling and live music.

Classical guitarist and music practitioner Will Crawford will run In the Groove, a ‘highly creative workshop’ suitable for KS2 pupils. Children will explore pulse and rhythm using provided instruments and body and vocal percussion. They will also create their own compositions in groups and perform as a rhythm ensemble.

On 7 July, the first ever Relaxed Concert for Schools will take place - an adaptation of Cheltenham’s Concert for Schools. Designed for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities, the concert is free to attend.

On 8 July, a Concert for Schools followed by Music Explorers will be led by Gloucestershire Youth Chamber Orchestra alongside professional musicians and Musicate alumni. This event is suitable for KS2 pupils and costs £1 per pupil (free for accompanying adults).

Cheltenham Jazz Festival runs from 27 April-2 May 2022.

Cheltenham Music Festival runs from 8-16 July 2022.
