MTA launches free Vaughan Williams 150th anniversary teaching resources

The free teaching resources will explore the music of Ralph Vaughan Williams, and will be fully available from September.

The Music Teachers Association (MTA) has commissioned and developed a set of six resources designed to educate children on music and the life of Ralph Vaughan Williams to mark 150 years since his birth.
Each resource has been created by a specialist educator, and centres on a different work by Vaughan Williams, designed for different key stages.
The resource packs will touch on his music, as well as unpack how the music is structured, with detailed individual lesson plans with listening materials, activities and objectives.
Funded by the Vaughan Williams Charitable Trust (VWCT), the resources will be free for all to use.

Resources will become available over the coming months, and will be completed by the start of the 2022/23 academic year.
When founding VWCT on RVW’s death, Ursula Vaughan Williams said: ‘I would like you to apply the proceeds of such covenants primarily for the purpose of the advancement anywhere in the world of the education of the public in the knowledge understanding and appreciation of the life and works of the late Ralph Vaughan Williams and of other British composers of music.’
