Music championed in new Arts Council England national council member appointments

YolanDa Brown, Baroness Fleet and Jamie Njoku-Goodwin have been appointed by the Secretary of State as National Council Members for Arts Council England, along with four others.

The Secretary of State has appointed a number of prominent music industry figures as members of the Arts Council England’s National Council.

Set to hold a position on the council for the next four years is musician, broadcaster and author YolanDa Brown. Championing the importance of music education, Brown is chair of Youth Music, PRS Foundation trustee and ambassador for the Prince’s Trust and London Music Fund, and sits on the advisory board of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.  

Baroness Fleet (Veronica Wadley) - the current chair of the Advisory Panel for the new National Plan for Music Education - has been appointed to serve on the board for three years, ending in May 2025. 

Chief executive of UK Music, campaigner and former political advisor, Jamie Njoku-Goodwin, has also been appointed to the board until May 2026. 

The other appointees across the arts include Abigail Pogson, William Bus and Deborah Shaw.
