New primary music education company launches free World Music Day resource

A new Derbyshire-based music education company has released a free resource pack for primary schools to use on World Music Day in June, incorporating whole school activities, cross-curricular lesson ideas, and educational games. 

Launched in February by Corinne Hope and Pete Jenkins, The Musical Me was founded to improve the global approach to primary music education through CPD, forums, groups and resources for non-specialist teachers. 

Hope said: ‘I don’t want my primary music education to be the future of the next generations. Change is required, we need to adapt and evolve to bring about a brighter, more creative and musical future for our children. I have developed these CPD courses to help teachers teach our children the wonders of music confidently.’

Jenkins added: ‘Music gave me an outlet. A chance to express myself and develop further skills. Yet something I will always look back on is not being inspired by music until I was 15 and in secondary education. 

‘We now have the opportunity to give children that same outlet in primary education, and it’s an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed. Through our music education courses, I know The Musical Me can change music education for the better.’
