Mayor of London and LMF patron, Sadiq Khan, is also celebrating the charity’s 10-year milestone.

Marking its 10th anniversary, the London Music Fund (LMF) is hosting a gala event at the Southbank Centre this evening.

Hosted by award-winning saxophonist and broadcasted YolanDa Brown, the event is to include a performance of ‘A Celebration’ by Rachel Portman OBE, as well as feature a host of presentations by alumni and current students.

The fund has awarded more than 600 scholarships over the years, and reached more than 10,000 young musicians, with a particular focus on those from low income families.

Mayor of London and patron of the LMF, Sadiq Khan, said: ‘Over the last decade, the London Music Fund has helped thousands of young Londoners nurture a passion in music. Across the capital, children and young people from low-income and diverse backgrounds have learned valuable skills they might never have had the chance to develop.

‘We know that children who get involved in music, the arts and culture do better at school and live healthier, happier lives, and I look forward to the London Music Fund continuing their amazing work for the next decade.’

Chrissy Kinsella, CEO of the LMF, said: ‘We are hugely excited to be holding our 10th anniversary concert at the Southbank Centre, one of London’s most vibrant arts venues.

‘It has been fantastic to welcome back so many of our brilliant graduate scholars for this very special event and we can’t wait to see them take to the stage alongside our current scholars and partnership ensembles this evening.’

The 10th anniversary gala event will be held tonight at 7pm. Find out more online.
