Many music departments include modules on minimalism in their KS3 and KS4 schemes of work. A contemporary musical style that uses simple repetitive diatonic phrases with catchy rhythms and engaging harmonies has considerable appeal for young students, who can themselves use computer sequencers to devise and develop effective-sounding music in this style. But what next?
