Six hundred young musicians aged 7 to 14 years old from across the UK have signed up to NCO's flagship digital programme, NCO Online 2021.

NCO Online is an orchestral learning programme designed for children. A purpose-built website hosts over 100 resources and 450 live events including inspirational webinars, section meet ups, orchestral workshops, social meet-ups, quizzes, challenges and more.

The three-month programme culminates on 1 July with the premiere of NCO's newest multi-track performance.

The programme consists of five main themes: Inspiration, My Instrument, Let's Create, Wellbeing and Pick N Mix and is supported by a specialist music and support team.

Mentoring will be a strong theme throughout the programme through collaborations with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain and the London Symphony Orchestra. Young musicians will be put through their paces by Henry Cookey, former International Taekwondo fighter to keep them fit and healthy.

Last year NCO carried out an extensive consultation and evaluation of its digital programme.

Sophie Lewis, NCO managing director, said: 'The new online platform is designed to help young musicians feel happy and have fun, learn new musical things and meet friends - the three things that young players need now more than ever.'
