Projects can apply for the ISF's one-off grants of up to £4000 to encourage progression in music learning through community activities.

The fund supports outreach work such as local festivals or performance opportunities for young musicians in youth choirs, orchestras or ensembles.

Established in 2012, the ISF has awarded its most recent grants to projects in Kenya, Brazil, Haiti and Nicaragua. In the past, the grant has supported more than 40 different organisations across Africa, Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America and the Caribbean, helping in a variety of ways including buying and repairing instruments and training educators.

Previous projects have focused on musical tuition, music employment, social inclusion and wellbeing.

ABRSM’s chief executive Chris Cobb said: ‘ABRSM is committed to supporting music learning around the globe and the ISF is a modest but important part of our commitment. We’re looking for exciting projects that can really make a difference to learners by giving them the kind of musical opportunities that they would otherwise never have had.’

Eligible projects for the fund must work outside the UK and Ireland to encourage music education in communities around the world. Applications to the ISF must be received by 8 November.
