Music for Youth appoints Phil Castang as new CEO

Castang will take up the role from July.

National youth arts charity Music for Youth has today announced that Phil Castang will start as the new chief executive officer from 1 July. 

On Twitter, Music for Youth said: ‘We're delighted to announce that the #MFY board of trustees has appointed a new chief executive officer! Phil Castang joins us on 1 July 2022, bringing a broad range of experience, deep knowledge of the sector and passion for the transformational power of music with him.’

Castang currently holds the post of director of Creative Learning & Engagement at Bristol Beacon and the National Centre for Inclusive Excellence (NCIE). 

Previous roles throughout Castang’s 26-year career in music education include chief executive at Newham Music Trust and co-founder of the International Guitar Foundation. In July 2021 he was appointed as chair of the Music Education Council

On his recent appointment, Castang said: ‘I’m so excited to be joining Music for Youth and look forward to taking the amazing work forward.’
